Ann E. Murphy attended Port Huron Area Schools K-12 and is a 1966 graduate of Port Huron High School. Ann graduated from Albion College in 1970 and taught life and physical science at Adams Jr. High in Wayne/Westland from 1970-74. In 1974, Ann retired from teaching and she and her late husband John raised four children, Todd, Brian, Katie and Megan in the Port Huron Area School District. In 1993, Ann revived her career in education teaching biology for 15 years at Port Huron Northern High School. She served as an interim assistant principal at PHN during the 2008-09 school year. Ann retired for a second time in June of 2009 and is honored to have the opportunity to serve our students and our district as President of the Board.

Ronda Ryan, Board Member

Ronda J. Ryan became a Board Trustee in August of 2011. Ronda is the Owner and Founder of Precision Computer Solutions in Port Huron. Through her (statewide) computer technology service business, she has been exposed to hundreds of different business leadership models, which continue to strengthen her business expertise and experience.

Ronda has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a minor in Computer Information Systems. She has served on several committees and boards within the community, and is currently serving on the Blue Water YMCA Board of Directors. She has also been a member of the Port Huron Hospital Board of Trustees, PHASD’s Facilities Study Team, Technology Committee, School-to-Work Transition Program, and Odyssey of the Mind.

She lives in Port Huron, is married, and the mother of two adult sons.

Hayley Alderman was elected to the Port Huron Schools Board of Education in November of 2014. Hayley attended school here and became a passionate advocate for students and the professionals who positively impacted her along the way.

She graduated from Port Huron High School in 2012 and went on to Central Michigan University as a Leader Advancement Scholar. She graduated from Central in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Leadership.

Hayley believes in the power of service. She co-coordinates the Armour-Hancock Community Garden and volunteers for Hunter Hospitality House as well as Adopt-A-Highway.

Timothy A. McCulloch is not new to the Board, having previously served as a trustee from 2010-2014.  He currently is on staff at Colonial Woods Missionary Church, serving as their Business & Finance Director since December 2014.  Tim worked for the City of Fraser as the Finance Director/Treasurer prior to coming to Colonial Woods.  


Tim and his wife, Joann, have been married since 2002, and  have three daughters who attend Port Huron Schools.Tim graduated from Baker College with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting.  He also received a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Baker College.

Denise M. Brooks is the President/CEO of the YMCA of the Blue Water Area. Denise joined the YMCA in March of 2009.  Previously, she was President of the Port Huron Hospital Foundation and worked at Port Huron Hospital for more than 18 years.  She currently serves on the board of the Community Foundation of St. Clair County and recently completed a six-year term on the board of St. Clair County Community College.


She earned a Master of Arts Degree in Management and Supervision from Central Michigan University and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Michigan State University after transferring from St. Clair County Community College.  She is a loyal Big Red!

Denise and her husband, Dave, are Port Huron natives who are actively involved in the community.

Jeff Stout, Board Member

 Jeffrey A. Stout has been on the Board since his election in June 2000. He was a firefighter in the Port Huron Fire Department for 28 years and retired as an Assistant Chief in 2003. He currently does contract HUD Section 8 inspections for the Port Huron Housing Commission. He and his wife Catherine have two adult daughters and two grandchildren.

The primary purpose of our school system is to provide a rigorous and relevant academic program for our students within a safe secure environment. We must also be efficient and financially responsible to our taxpayers. We must remember that every dollar we spend was given by the people who expect hard work and academic success from every member of the PHASD community.

Brian is an Adjunct Instructor at SC4 where he has worked part-time for over 20 years, teaching a variety of classes, mostly in Early Childhood Education. He has an Associate’s Degree from St. Clair County Community College, a B.A. in Elementary Education, an M.A. in Elementary Education, and an M.A. in Early Childhood Education, all from Michigan State University. He is a passionate advocate for children and for those who work on their behalf.

Brian and his wife Barb have five adult children and seven grandchildren. He attends First United Methodist Church in Port Huron and sings in the Sanctuary Choir. Mr. Winters is a lifelong resident of Port Huron and continues to live within the city.
